Bee Communications:
Sharon Callahan, a prominent interspecies communicator, spoke with our bees at The Melissa Garden on February 26, 2009. Below is a transcript of the phone conversation, indicating who was speaking – Sharon, Barbara Schlumberger or Priscilla Coe.
Sharon: Have you given the hives names?
Priscilla: No, but go ahead.
Sharon: The Haengekorb (Round Skep Hive) hive’s name is “Charity.” It has a highly spiritual androgeny, but this particular hive feels more male. He loves his position in the garden. He knows we are worried about his insides. We don’t need to worry. What is over the hive?
Priscilla: A canopy made of plastic that covers the hive and protects it from the rain, but with open sides.
Sharon: The canopy made of plastic is a good idea for the winter. Charity told us it was a little damp. However, the internal configuration is perfect for them. Charity likes his placement in the garden. He doesn’t want to move. He is in the perfect location. He would like other hives like his in that shape or configuration. He doesn’t want to pressure us but would like more of them.
Sharon: There are two groups of bees that would like to come through and live in Haengekorb hives. Their names are Faith and Hope. They are still in spirit and could come when we are ready. They know we are busy. Three hives would give an energy dynamic that would make all of them stronger.
Sharon: We are doing a fantastic job. Concerns are good, but don’t worry. The hive’s most healthful quality is our Love for them. Love is the most important.
Priscilla: What about Colony Collapse Disorder?
Sharon: Hive collapse has various reasons…The underlying cause is lack of Love. We exploit the bees. The biggest thing we can do is love them. The bees know we are doing the most important part already at The Melissa Garden and everything else is details.
Priscilla & Barbara: What classes should we offer?
Sharon: The bees feel enthusiastic about anything we want to do here. The primary interest is in having people come here to experience them. Workshops and events get people here. But the most important thing is just the experience of being together in a state of love without really wanting anything from each other.
Sharon: More about having three hives: The Haengekorb bees are saying to create a triangulation in the same area, like a trinity; and that it will strengthen all three. We wouldn’t understand WHY if they told us. There is no hurry. Charity is fine. Install two more hives… they will tell us the exact distance apart. Regarding bees in general, the usual term is to “install” a new hive, however. bees think of it as an enthronement. Bees thrive on exalted language. When introducing bees into a new hive, call it an enthronement to enliven them right at the beginning.
Sharon: The Melissa Garden bees want very much for us to not to focus too much on learning. They want us to focus on our own intuition. We are meant to bring it through as something unique and brand new. The bees encourage us with the creation of new hives. Let our imagination go wild. Imagination willl be the prime avenue of communication directly with the bees. The bees will tell us how they want their hives to be.
Sharon: Regarding the One Room Hive or Golden Hive (Einraumbeute in German), the bees love that hive. (Priscilla commented that there is a window on the side of this hive where we can watch the bees.) The bees say they can look out at us. This hive has no name at the moment. It is very feminine, and a counterpart to the other hive. Sharon thought of the name Deborah, but said the bees don’t like that. “Felicity” would do, the bees say.
Sharon: All of the bees here understand that it is a grand experiment to help them. There is no way t o compare the hives. Felicity is very happy, as happy as Charity. Don’t do any more conventional hives. The prime component in wellbeing is love. Conventional hives hold a collective vibration of exploitation regardless of our high intentions. The bees love everything we have done so far. The more variety of plants for them, the better. They would like more lavender or purple flowers. Add more and more variety. Just go with our intuition. We are Divinely guided with The Melissa Garden, and are giving back love to the bees, more than just giving them what they biologically need. Try not to “over mentalize” it. Go with intuition. We are giving them a beautiful life, a wide variety given to the bees out of love. They feel our love.
Sharon: Regarding the hive Barbara painted (the Golden Hive), the artwork adds love to the hive. The love makes the difference. The bees are absolutely aware of the painted hive. They have a holographic perception of where they are. They can feel the painting from inside the hive because it was done with great love. In the whole situation with bees, as dire as it might seem, we don’t want to move backwards to old forms of beekeeping. It is more a matter of moving forward to move together into a future that is better. Try a few hives that come totally from imagination in terms of shape and how decorated. Anything that comes from Spirit is going to make them happier AND healthier.
Sharon: I get a feeling that the bees need more water. The bees would like small areas where they can get water closer to the hives, from oversized plant saucers, deep ones. Put a brick in the middle. They would like more places to go to get the water.
Priscilla: What do the bees have to say on the concept of sanctuary?
Sharon: Sanctuary is the bigger part of our mission. Create programs that focus on sanctuary. A lot of people would do it, but they think it is too hard. Collaborate with others who have the same idea. The timing (these economic times) makes it the perfect time to do more close to home, such as to plant for the bees. Creating sanctuaries is part of our higher purpose. One of the most important things is to demonstrate that it need not be difficult to do a bee sanctuary. More people know that all creatures need to be loved. Put out the message to people to start with just one hive, plus love, and no need to sweat the details.
Sharon: Encourage people to have one hive in their garden, with bee friendly plants --- bees are encouraging us to go in this direction of backyard beekeeping. Creating a sanctuary is a wonderful thing, but it is not quite enough. The bees don’t want to retire! The bees want to encourage backyard beekeeping. The Sanctuary concept will appeal to people who love the bees and are happy to just have a hive at their home. Love will restore the health of the bees.
Sharon: What we are doing already is perfect. Continue to do classes. Expand as we feel comfortable into the more mystical dimensions.
Sharon: Classes for children would be awesome. Kids get it. More and more people will come here to learn and grow, with a more mystical approach as we move along in a growing, living process --- This will make people want to learn more. Mostly encourage people to have a hive in their backyard.
Barbara: Should we sell honey and/or propolis?
Sharon: Not yet, maybe in the future. Our intention is pure, but it adds a disharmonious aspect. The bees would be more inclined to have us share the honey and propolis as a sacrament in the beginning. Let people taste the honey from the different hives. Honey is medicinal. Continue with apitherapy classes. Anything in this direction is wonderful. Sanctuary is a growing, living process, and will develop a life and spirit of its own over time. Bees want to have people come here and learn about medicinal properties of honey, not use honey in excess. Offer products for sale later, after an education process first --- part of the full birthing of the sanctuary.
Sharon: Regarding the future of The Melissa Garden, it would be wonderful to go toward non-profit status. Have a statement of purpose to give point of focus and intention. Sanctuary is a living entity that will change, grow and expand over time. Include that in the statement of purpose. We have been Divinely guided. Add statement of purpose and put one foot in front of the other every day and let The Melissa Garden evolve through us. Be like the worker bees of the Divine. Try real hard to be careful with our language. Use the word “challenge” instead of word “problems.” The bees give themselves over to the greater good of the hive and we need to, too. What we are doing requires us to be a bee.
Sharon: The bees are in charge of the garden. They can tell us… we can receive communication and direction from the bees. It will come from the bees to us in the form of intuition about what to do. In considering what to do for the garden, the bees encourage us to move toward things that make us feel expansive and free… avoid suggestions that feel tight or restrictive within ourselves. Use our imaginations… do what is totally impractical but beautiful. Be free. Don’t dwell on things humans consider problems. Allow the bees to guide us into a future that has healthy relationships between bees and humans. (Sharon said she is getting mages of hives of all kinds of shapes… with spiraling pieces coming off the hives….Hives made of plexiglass. TRY ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING. LET YOURSELF GO WILD.)
Sharon: The bees feel that a challenge for those at The Melissa Garden might be criticism from those doing things in more traditional way. Don’t worry about that. No matter how far out, bring in love and the element of fun, and they will be healthy. If you have a dream of a plexiglass castle, try it. The bees want to try whatever comes to us. It isn’t about finding the right hive or right shape. It is about acts of love. The love will heal the bees. We want to be credible, but people like Ron can present to even the most scientific mind. Bees don’t want us to be afraid to be far out. We are on the leading edge. The farther out the better, as long as it is done with love.
Sharon: On my website (www.anaflora.com)… read The Animals Speak… about Bees --- I wrote it 8 years ago.
Sharon: Don’t feel a sense of urgency about the situation with bees. This is a reality in the three dimensional world. Don’t have urgency, or pressure, contemplate and let it evolve. Sit with ideas with the bees and see what feels right. Look how far we have come.
[At this point we talked with Sharon and the bees about the specific individuals involved with The Melissa Garden. Sharon said we should bring up our concerns and discuss them directly with the bees.]
Sharon: The bees like small talk too, what our day is like.
